Frequently asked questions

Our COVID policy?

We will be outdoors throughout our adventure and mask wearing is not required as per CDC guidelines. We do require all passengers and crew to be vaccinated with COVID vaccine.

What should I bring?

Best to bring your items in soft luggage (instead of hard suitcase). We suggest the following packing list: Soft rubber soled shoes (no high heels please) Sunglasses Hat Sunscreen Toothbrush & Toothpaste Hair brush (optional, you are on vacation!) Bathing suit (optional) Typically the days are sunny with highs in the 60's and nights in the low 50's. It can get windy and temperatures can change quickly as we sail through the bay. Bring multiple layers, wind-breaker jacket, pants and long sleeve shirt. Beach towel (optional) Water bottle and walking shoes to take on a walk Cash for bike rentals and/or local food at destination

Will I get seasick?

Unlike sailing in open ocean, sailing within the San Francisco Bay is generally very smooth as it is well protected from wind and waves. We are not aggresive sailors and making the trip as comfortable as possible is our priority. For example, depending on the weather we may depart earlier Saturday morning to avoid windy conditions. Everyone is unique and you would be the best person to know. If you have concerns we suggest you take over the counter medicine the day before departure such as Cyclizine (Marezine) and dimenhydrinate (Dramamine).

Where can I park when I arrive?

To get here, set your GPS destination to 441 Seaport Ct, Redwood City, CA 94063. You will find lots of parking spaces in the parking lot. We'll be in Dock B, the second dock as you come into the marina.

Any physical limitations or recommendations?

Entering/disembarking the catamaran from/to the dock or dinghy may require you to step over or climb up/down. You'll need enough dexterity to be able to carry yourself in these situations. There will be stairs to your cabins. Additionally, bedroom hallways are much narrower than homes and our bed length ranges between 74" (6 foot 2 inches) and 78" (6 feet 6 inches).

Do I need to know how to swim?

We have lifejackets onboard for each passenger in case of emergency. Swiming is not required, however, do let us know ahead of time if you do not know how to swim.

Will I get a good night's sleep?

We hope so! On Saturday we will anchor overnight in well protected areas and there should be little movement. We furnished each bed with down feather comforters to keep you warm and cozy. Our guests always told us that they had a very restful night.

Will there be hot water?

Rooms have shower and hot water. So please do enjoy a nice hot shower during your stay! We'll only ask that you please keep it brief so that it can be shared with everyone onboard.

Will I have phone reception and can I charge my phone?

Each cabin is equiped with 110VAC and at least two USB ports which you can use to charge your phone. We'll be in the San Francisco Bay and from our experience, we expect continuous cell coverage with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Google Fi, etc throughout the sail.

How big are the rooms?

Folks coming from land, keep in mind that in this watercraft vessel accommodations will be comfortable but cozy. Thus we suggest that you pack lightly, keep it simple and easy (stress free).

What if I have allergies?

The camataran is NOT a nut-free environment. Each bed is furnished with down feather comforters and may not be suitable for those who are allergic. Other than these, let us know if you have other allergies and we'll see if we can make arrangements.

What about an emergency?

The safety of everyone on board is our utmost priority - this is without question. We will not head out if the weather is going to be unsafe. To put your mind at ease, our catamaran is designed for open ocean around-the-world travel and is designed to manage even storm conditions. However, we will only head out with you if weather is fair. Additionally, our catamaran has positive buyoancy...which means that even if it was full of water, the vessel would float above water (let's make sure we don't test that).

What will be available (e.g. you do not need to bring any of this)

Soap Shampoo & conditioner Towel for shower Aspirins or other basic first aid Water Sheets Blankets Pillow Mattress Food Snacks Drinks Coffee USB and 110V AC power Flashlight Lifejackets

Any age limits?

Anyone over 4 and physically able is welcome. If parents wish to bring children under 4 please coordinate with us directly to make sure we have the appropriate safety equipement.

Can we customize our menu?

The menus will be designed around your food preferences/dietary restrictions and availability of products. We willl provide juice, sodas, and coffee.

Is the sailing adventure family friendly?

Yes! Sailing adventures are great for families. It's a great way for kids to experience a different mode of transportation and way of life.

Do I need a passport?

No, we will be sailing within the San Francisco bay.

What is the alcohol policy?

We do not serve alcohol on the boat. Your party may bring a single bottle of wine. Any hard liquor or heavy drinking is strictly prohibited for the safety of everyone onboard. If this happens at any point during the sail, we will terminate the trip immediately and find the nearest dock.
